Education and training: a mission in its own right

Each year, an average number of 10 MSc-students and 8 PhD-students + post-doctoral researchers from France and from abroad (e.g., Brazil, Ireland, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Germany, Spain) join the Pegase research unit for training. Particular attention is paid to make them feel at home and in accompanying them in establishing a professional career.

Pegase is also involved in various teaching programs in animal science offered by Institut Agro Rennes-Angers and targeted towards a large audience: agricultural engineers, MSc-students, PhD-students, and academic and industrial professionals. Three course programs are offered: the agricultural engineer program, MSc programs, and continuing education.

These activities rely on a strong partnership between INRAE (as an agricultural research organization) and Institut Agro Rennes-Angers (as an agricultural university and French “grande école”, the higher education establishments outside the main framework of the French university system).

The PEGASE research unit is also involved in the new institute Agreenium which brings together the expertise of four agricultural universities (Institut Agro Rennes-Angers in Rennes, AgroParisTech in Paris, SupAgro in Montpellier and the Veterinary School of Toulouse) and two research Institutes (INRAE and CIRAD) in France.

Agreenium’s mission is to promote research and training in agronomy and veterinary science to meet the challenges of food security and sustainable development.

Agreenium created a bilingual portal with all courses offered by the Agreenium schools (MSc or engineer courses; 79 programs are currently available).
